Frequently invited to perform in Mexico, Lorena was invited to participate in one of the most prestigious festivals in Latin America, the “XV Casa Beethoven International Piano Festival” held in the cities of Monterrey Torreón, with great reviews in both recitals. In that country, she also performed the Concerto De Ravel en Sol with the renowned director Enrique Batiz. In 2013 Lorena made an extensive tour of Mexico with the prestigious “Quatrotango” quartet, offering more than 30 performances in 35 days, including solo piano recitals, chamber music and the Schumann Concerto with the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Hidalgo. During this tour, Lorena Eckell also offered “Master Classes” at the National Conservatory of Music and the “Escuela Superior de Müsica” in Mexico City.

Among the most outstanding activities of 2012 is his trip to the United Arab Emirates with a tour with the Premier Music College of Prague, in which he offered both recitals and concerts with orchestras in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, among other emirates.

Lorena Eckell was invited on numerous occasions to open Concert Cycles and Festivals, such as the “International Tango Fusion Festival” within the framework of the Summit of the Americas (Mar del Plata, Argentina) and the International Concert Season of the Symphony Orchestra National of Peru. In Peru she also performed numerous times with the Trujillo Symphony Orchestra and the National Youth Symphony Orchestra of Peru, in addition to multiple solo piano recitals.

With the National Symphony Orchestra of El Salvador, Lorena performed Beethoven’s Concert No. 3, described by local critics as a “masterful interpretation”.

In 2009 Lorena was distinguished “Woman of the Year” of San Isidro, the city where she grew up, in recognition of her distinguished career.

In addition to her successful solo career, Lorena Eckell is very interested in Chamber Music. She highlights her performance with the Austrian violinist Wolfgang David at the “Llao-Llao International Festival”, Bariloche, Argentina with excellent critical and public repercussion. Carlos Montero, from Argentina’s Diario La Nación, commented: “Argentine pianist Lorena Eckell brilliantly contributed, through her judicious artistic vision, a first-rate piano school.” Lorena also forms a duo with the violinist Marcelo Rebuffi. The Eckell/Rebuffi duo has developed an international career performing in the most important cities of Argentina, Mexico and Spain (sponsored by the Argentine Embassy in said country).

Lorena Eckell has assumed an important commitment in the dissemination of Latin American music, especially Argentine music. In fact in 2006 she recorded a CD based exclusively on Argentine composers such as Astor Piazzolla, Alberto Ginastera, Carlos Guastavino and Juan José Castro (Fonocal Records). Among other outstanding experiences in the recording studio, a CD with violinist Marcelo Rebuffi based on the most outstanding works of Argentine composers for violin and piano stands out. In addition, she Lorena has collaborated with numerous artists as a ‘guest pianist’.

Lorena Eckell’s repertoire with orchestra includes concerts by Alberto Ginastera, Astor Piazzolla (Estaciones Porteñas) and Luis Gianneo, as well as concerts by Beethoven (the five already performed live), Schumann, Chopin, Brahms, Prokofiev, Ravel, Gershwin, Rachmaninoff, Herea, among others.

She is currently working on the Lorena Eckell/Chopin project, an album in which, for the first time, an Argentine pianist will edit all of the Ballads and Fantasies by the Polish composer. Other future commitments include recitals and performances with orchestras from Argentina & abroad.

Lorena Eckell graduated from the JJ Castro Conservatory in Buenos Aires with the highest grades on her instrument. She studied with teachers Inés Gómez Carrillo, Aldo Antognazzi and Iván Citera in Madrid.
